HELP WITH DEVELOPING COMPREHENSIVE PLANS

The California Cities Violence Prevention Network offers training and technical assistance in developing comprehensive community-wide violence reduction strategies that do not rely solely on enforcement efforts.  Communities learn about the benefits of working together to build safe and healthy communities that don’t produce crime and how this collaboration can positively impact their community by developing strategies upon a foundation of shared accountability and shared responsibility.  Cities also learn how cross-sector collaboration can secure specific action commitments from key civic and government entities to help galvanize community engagement, improve police-community trust, facilitate sustainability, enhance funding opportunities, and make positive results in reducing violence, and building vital communities.

Developing a Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan

Developing a violence prevention plan requires strong community partnerships that include local government, the police, schools, probation, faith & community-based organizations, public health  and community members.  Together they can develop specific programs in key areas of prevention, intervention, suppression and reentry.  The CCVPN  team has decades of experience in a variety of key topical areas including those listed below.  Working with your city leadership team, CCVPN can develop a budget and strategy to assist in the developing, implementing or refining  a city's violence prevention plan.  See sample Violence Prevention Plans here.
